Crypto.com has added the NWSL’s Angel City FC to its expanding roster of sports sponsorships. Sources said Crypto.com will be one of Angel City’s biggest sponsors, with a four-year agreement in the low seven figures annually. Rights are in the cryptocurrency and NFT categories. As a top-tier “founding” sponsor, Crypto.com receives venue signage, TV, radio, social and digital ad inventory. Angel City’s unique sponsorship model tithes 10% of every deal to a CSR push; in this case, it will go to support programs supporting financial education and empowerment for women and diverse audiences. The expansion club’s other top-tier sponsors include Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Heineken, Diageo, DoorDash, Klarna, Gatorade, and Payscale.
This deal continues a heady year in sponsorship for Crypto.com, during which it completed pricey tie-ins with the likes of the UFC, F1, Serie A, Paris Saint-Germain, the Canadiens, a jersey patch deal with the 76ers and an entitlement to the downtown L.A. arena that is home to the Lakers, Clippers, and the Kings. By now, everyone in the business knows that crypto exchanges are the “it” category. However, Angel City co-Founder & President Julie Uhrman said, “We found a common mission in building a community of financial independence for our players and fans, and overall, we’ve seen that being different and leading with purpose has attracted a lot of bands that are reaching out for something more than just eyeballs.”
